What’s On This Week At Super+Super

23 Apr

If you’ve been following our blog posts you might know this week see’s the second round of Macrame with Cath Williams! Last months course was a blast, not only did i come away with samplers, a note book full of hints and tips but also finished making a really cool bright green lampshade! Which after much deliberation is now hanging in my bedroon, clashing nicely with is plaster pink walls (photos to follow). very tasteful indeed.

During the course attendees learn the skills to rejuvenate this ancient craft technique and bring it smack bang up to date. Learning a vast array of knots and technique in each 2 hour class you will build on these skills to produce a step by step project which could be anything froma bag, a top or a lampshade!

Modern Macramé is fun, therapeutic, creative and immensely satisfying! We are biased, but highly recommend it.

This week also sees the first in an exciting schedule of events by Tom of Holland. Tom Says Darn It starts this friday afternoon 3 til 5pm. Best known for his Visible Mending Programme (VMP) Tom of Holland uses darning, patching and weaving techniques to give a new lease of life to damaged and over-loved garments in the most visually spectacular way. come and join this wonderful class and rejuvinate that favourite garment, be it socks or sweater using a selection of traditional darning techniques.

In a slight change to our usual schedule, Thursday Stitch and Bitch has now been moved to a Tuesday evening. With the next being held on Tuesday May 1st 7 til 9pm.  So come along, bring any crafty project, eat some cake, drink some tea (or wine) and hang out with other lovely crafters.

Happy Monday!

Macramé Mania at S+S HQ.

20 Apr

For the past month we’ve been running our Macramé  classes under the watchful eye of Macramé extraordinaire Cath Williams. We are all completely hooked! Check out some photos of what we’ve been doing so far.

When most people think of Macramé, they think of the friendship bracelets you spent hours and hours making when you were a teenager! Yet what a lot of people don’t realise is that Macrame is so much more than that! Macramé is an enduring and endearing technique that requires no tools and can be as simple or as incredibly complex as you choose.

During the course you learn the skills to rejuvenate this ancient technique and bring it smack bang up to date. You will learn as many knots as is possible in four weeks and in each 2 hour class you will make step by step projects to use or wear and freestyle to create your own design!

Modern Macramé is fun, therapeutic, creative and immensely satisfying! Our next installment of classes is now up so be sure to book on come and get your knot on!

Many thanks to our amazing stall holders for making it a lovely day filled with outfits from all eras and a good helping of tea and biscuits! For more details don’t hesitate in calling or emailing us!

Tuesday (10am til 12pm) saw the second Mum’s Stitch & Bitch and a morning of colouring in, making peg dolls and healthy dose of nattering. A lovely morning cosily tucked away out of the rain. Friday 20th sees Super+Super’s second Clothes Swap,  Its £5 entry on the door and  BYOB. (We don’t charge a corkage) so pull out those old sweaters and  skirts from the depths of your drawers and pop along for a relaxed night of swapping.
