If you are pottering in Brighton town tomorrow (Tuesday 5th) do pop in to Fabrica between 10am and 1.30pm and get your stitch on. Us Super+Super gals are hosting a morning of free Hand Embroidery tutorials. Hand Embroidered hanky’s to be precise!

Due to the unstructured nature of the event, attendees will be encouraged to jump in and start learning on arrival and just have a go! There will be numerous examples, books and hand outs to inspire and instruct. We will encourage learners to generate their own designs and colour combinations, to work with mixing different types of yarns to push any pre-conceived ideas about hand embroidery.

All you need to bring is yourself, S+S will be providing the embroidery threads and yarns, embroidery needles, printed hand-outs of stitch techniques, cotton handkerchiefs and plenty of books, magazines and images to inspire!!!

See you there…. craftaganza rules!

Creating Characters Saturday Workshop

29 May

Saturday gone Super+Super welcomed Zara Wood aka Woody and Miss Amy Phipps to host our much anticipated Creating Characters workshop, previously held at YSP and Fingal Arts Dublin. With a window cram packed with Woody’s hand illustrated characters and stacks of colourful threads, books and scraps of magazines to aid the imagination our excited group of attendees let loose on their sketch books to create some crafty magic of thier own!

The first half of the day was spent with Zara creating their very own character – picking up useful tips on sourcing inspiration, fully utilising sketchbooks and ‘getting into’ the creative process.

Then working with both Amy & Zara on translating characters through hand embroidery onto fabric, framing them in lovely wooden hoops to make a one off very personal artwork.

Thanks to Woody and Amy for a truely creative and inspiring workshop. Watch this space for dates of our autumn Characters event!

Quotes from previous attendees:

‘Thank you! You’ve made sketchbooks anti-panic & doodles a stitching heaven’

Josie attending the workshop at YSP

‘An excellent course – I learned so much and feel inspired to keep going.’
