Brrr, so the weather has turned and the nights are starting to draw in… although it might still be a little early to dust off that Christmas classics triple disk box set, (hhh hmm you know the one i’m talking about) its is time we shared the first on our exciting list of festive classes with you!

First up is Crafty Christmas Stocking Saturday workshop. Join us for an afternoon of cutting, sewing and sticking to make a very special Christmas stocking! We will combine a selection of felt, fabrics and jazzy bits to personalise to our hearts content whilst sipping mulled vino and singing along to the cheesiest of festive tunes! Hell yeah. First class Saturday 8th December 2 til 4.30pm. £15 per person includes all materials and refreshments.

Next why not pop along to Festive decs’ and jazzy bits! Join us for an evening of Christmas decoration making of the highest calibre! Thats right… cut+sew+stick+bedazzle. Combine a selection of felt, threads, ribbons and jazzy bits to personalise tree trims and felt shapes to your hearts content. November 27th 6.30-9pm and December 11th 6.30-9pm £15 per person includes ALL materials + rerfesments! Max 12 places.

Festive Totes! Using stencils and a selection of Christmassy designs this workshop includes ALL materials, festive sweet treats and the chance to screen print and embellish an awesome Festive tote bag! £15 per head with 12 spaces available. Why not add a pom-pom or two and make it a special gift for family and friends! Monday December 3rd 6.30-9pm

If you like us are a fan of crochet, then this workshop has got your name on it! Crochet Baubles… Spend the afternoon at S+S sipping tea and working with a several different crochet stitches to create  2 crochet baubles from a selection of lovely festive coloured yarns and ribbons to hang them with! Attendees must have a basic knowledge of crochet. £25 per person which includes ALL materials, a printed hand out and a sneaky mulled vino+mince pie or two. Sunday 16th December 2-5pm MAX 8 places.

Our 4th and latest character to pop up in the Creating Characters Exhibition window at S+S HQ is the studios Sebastian. Bon Jour!

Fed up of seeing the same boring shoppers every time you walk around town? Yes. We are too. So come along and make your very own, custom designed, handmade, one of a kind shopper to trump all other shoppers. Yes.

Using traditional hand embroidery stitches with a contemporary vintage twist you will learn all the skills essential for getting to grips with this exciting decorative technique.

This class will introduce you to a vast array of foundation stitches including, running stitch, chain and back stitch, blanket stitch, satin stitch and French knots to create exciting patterns and motifs. You will then mix these stitches to gain a variety of effects, texture and how to work with traditional hoops, mixing yarns and threads to give your work a new crafty dimension.

Motifs can be designed free hand translating your own original ideas, or by working with a selection of vintage transfers provided. The possibilities are endless! At the end of this course you will have a lovely embroidered cotton shopper + sampler!

Super+Super will be hosting it’s first Creating Characters workshop on Saturday 26th May with the amazing illustrator Zara Wood. Creating Characters combines drawing and embroidery along with techniques of coming-up with characters and tips on sourcing inspiration. It is a two-fold workshop featuring Zara Wood and textile designer Amy Phipps.

Firstly, spend time with Zara aka Woody creating your very own character – pick up useful tips on sourcing inspiration, fully utilising your sketchbook and ‘getting into’ the creative process. Then work with both Amy & Zara on translating your character through hand embroidery onto fabric.

Take home a sketchbook full of ideas and an embroidery hoop ready to hang on the wall framing your very own creation. Plus the confidence & motivation to continue creating.

Attendees should bring their own sketchbooks and favourite pen, along with any specific fabric or threads of their choice to personalise their own creations. We will provide basic drawing equipment plus the haberdashery kit to make the embroidery hoop character.
