DIY / Decorated Pumpkins
DIY / Decorated Pumpkins. This weeks creative project is an alternative for Halloween. No carving or scooping required just some good old painting and gluing. We have seen lots of gorgeously decorated variations of this project online but decided a bit of brightly chalked haphazard doodling was more our style. So we invite you to grab some paint and have a play!
You will need: A selection of fun craft supplies!…
Several mini pumpkins
Chalk Paint Markers
White chalk paint
Gold spray paint
Tape, pom-poms, glue, scissors
A newspaper or mat to paint on
Start by painting your bases. We used some leftover chalk paint to give a matt finish to two of our pumpkins and spray paint in gold for another. You will need 2 coats for an even finish.
Once your paint has dried grab your chalk paint pens! Here we used a black and gold pens and drew lots of varying length lines from the stalk down to create a simple monochrome design. We then used a black chalk paint pen to scribble on the top and bottom of the gold pumpkin for the second design. it was a super simple idea but we think the look was just spot on!
For the more fun coloured designs we painted on polka dots and glued on a scattering of mini pom-poms! To finish we drew around the dots with a black pen which was a last minute decision but it worked really well.
The white pumpkin with triangles was drawn freehand and a bit trickier than first expected! Adding the luminous yellow stripes lifted the pattern and who doesn’t like a zingy yellow anyway.
These fellas sit together quite nicely and make simple but fun (if slightly freestyle) alternative Halloween decorations!
